Final Public Notice -Impacts to Floodplains City of Little Sioux – Water System Improvements Little Sioux, Iowa The City of Little Sioux, Iowa in Harrison County intends to seek financial assistance from USDA, Rural Development, Rural Utilities Service for costs of improvements to their municipal water system. The proposed project consists of new water mains, new water tower, new water meters and new components in the water treatment plant. If implemented, the project will replace aged and undersized water main with 4” and 6” water main and provide fire protection for the community of Little Sioux. Project will include installation of a 50,000 gallon elevated tank. New cellular water meters will be installed. Aged components of the treatment plant will be replaced, including new detention tank and aerator within building addition, high service pumps, electrical, controls and HVAC. In accordance with Executive Order 11988, Floodplain Management and USDA Departmental Regulation 9500-3, Land Use Policy, the purpose of this notice is to inform the public of this proposed conversion or effect and request comments concerning the proposal, alternative sites or actions that would avoid these impacts, and methods that could be used to minimize these impacts. The environmental documentation regarding this proposal is available for review at the USDA Rural Development office location at 511 W. 7th Street, Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
