Franklin J. Archer, 83

Franklin James Archer was born on Jan. 14, 1942, in the Moorhead area to Emil and Hazel (Huntley) Archer. Frank had nine siblings and stayed around the Moorhead area growing up. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1960. Frank worked for Union Pacific after high school before joining the Air Force. He met Carolyn Cox from Woodbine and they were married on Feb. 2, 1962. Frank served four years in the Air Force before returning to the Moorhead area. Frank and Carolyn had four children, Troy, Michelle, Jeff and Marci. Frank worked at the Berne Co-op in Ute for years while also doing dozer and construction work. Frank and Carolyn stayed in the Moorhead area farming outside of town. Many remember Frank as the mailman. He started substituting then went full-time working for the post office for 41 years.

Frank was extremely involved with his family, grandkids and great-grandkids. He was loved by so many in the community and was always there with a smile and to lend a helping hand.

Frank died on April 10, 2025, at home due to a tragic accident at the age of 83 years, two months and 27 days.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn; daughter, Marci; and several siblings. He is survived by three children, Troy Archer of Moorhead, Michelle (Jeremy) Cleaver of Mondamin, and Jeff (Jen) Archer of Moorhead; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Broer of Onawa; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moorhead Community Center.
