Helen Carolyn Waldemer, age 84, loving mother of four and cherished wife to husband Michael Waldemer, passed away peacefully Jan. 4, 2023. She was surrounded by family at Azria Health Rose Vista in Woodbine.

Carolyn was born Aug. 15, 1938, in rural Dunlap, to Charles and Vivian (Berger) Hansen. She was raised on a farm east of Woodbine, graduating from Woodbine High School in 1956. Carolyn then attended Graceland College in Lamoni. She taught first grade for two years in Pisgah. It was a substitute teacher, Alleyne Waldemer, filling in for her that thought she would be a good match for her son Michael. They went out on a date, and ended up having a 63-year marriage, settling on the family farm four miles from Pisgah. They were blessed with four children. Carolyn took a break to raise her children, and later worked at Perfection Form in Logan for 22 years, retiring in 2000.

Carolyn was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. She had a great love for her family, attending many activities. She loved flowers and birds, at one time having a large flower garden full of flowers. Mike and Carolyn loved to dance. She had many special friends over the years, and she was well known for her love and generosity to others. Carolyn once said to make sure her obituary said she also loved to laugh!

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Hansen. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; four children, Ron (Peggy) Waldemer of Springfield, Mo., Kristi (Larry) Rife of Mondamin, Tricia (Bryan) Fischer of Simpsonville, S.C. and Diane (Rick) Ruffcorn of Modale; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Gene (Judy) Hansen of Walnut and Lyle Hansen of Gig Harbor, Wash.; sister, Kathy Lecnar of Newton; sister-in-law, Elaine Hansen of Mesa, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who love her.
