CANDIDATE FOR: City Council
EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: Larry Malone, owner and operator of Malone Bulldozing Inc., based in Dunlap for over 35 years. My wife, Lanette, and I will be married for 50 years next August. We raised two children in Dunlap, both graduating from Boyer Valley High School and have two grandchildren, both also graduates of BVHS.
WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? I see an opportunity to share in the administration and continued development of the community. I like working with others, have been a successful businessman, and enjoy helping the town and citizens of the community. I love to see developments which I can help with.
WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? I have previously worked with the city on multiple projects including the youth complex, Prairie Meadows subdivision, new golf clubhouse, installation of the golf course pond, fire hall tear down, and the jetty and dock at Pleasant View park to name a few. I have been running a prosperous business and have experience working with many government entities. As a 40+ year resident of the city, I have formed business relationships and friendships with many people in town. I live here, I work here, and I want to make the city a place we can all be proud of.
WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? I would promote several projects that will benefit the town, such as ensuring all homes have the updated water meters, repairing the two sidewalk bridges - which in their current state pose a safety hazard, and in general address the litter and rubbish situation that has accumulated around town. Additionally, discussions need to be had about how Dunlap has an affordable housing shortage, while at the same time, has multiple vacant homes. Dunlap is a great town, and I want to be a part of making the town even better.
