TAMARA SMITH-COOPERRIDER
CITY/TOWN: Modale
CANDIDATE FOR: Modale
EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: I have been a resident of Modale since 2018. I have been working in the city for the last 6 years. We moved here from Council Bluffs to become a part of a small community. Since living here I have come to know many of the citizens and love helping the people of the community.
WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? Being on the City Council is a way that I can advocate for the people of Modale. I feel people should feel comfortable in expressing their concerns and needs, and the city council should be approachable.
WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? As stated earlier, I am currently a member of the city council. I began to have a desire for more involvement as I attended the meetings as the Modale Library Director which I had the privilege of serving for three years. As I transitioned to my current occupation that I have held for the last 5 years, I have continued to connect with residents and have seen how important strong local leadership is.
WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? I am currently a member of the city council and I am running for reelection for my position because I would like to continue to find ways to make people know that their opinions matter. I would like to be a part of organizing a group that would help watch out for our older people and forming a warming station and meals in our community when we have storms similar to the past blizzards. I am running for city council to bring the same commitment to Modale as I have to working in this community to ensure our neighborhood thrives with the services it needs.
