LESLIE VICARY
CITY/TOWN: Logan
CANDIDATE FOR: Logan-Magnolia School Board
EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: First and foremost, I’m a wife and mom. My husband, Taygen (Lo-Ma Class of 2000), and I put down roots here nearly a decade ago after getting married, and we’re now raising four young kids — Lela (6), Macon (4), Orrin (2), and Talon (6 months). Our family also helps operate a small livestock business with my husband’s family just outside of town. My faith and family are at the center of my life, and I enjoy spending
time with them and leading Bible study at our church. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and earned my degree in Business Economics from Marquette University, followed by an MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Over the past 20 years, I’ve built my career in product development and leadership roles across the banking and agriculture industries. I’m currently CEO of an agriculture accounting software company, where I combine my passions for strategy, management, technology, and agriculture while serving producer investors, board members, and customers.
WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? With my oldest now in kindergarten and three more children close behind, I’ll be a parent in the district for nearly two decades to come. Education shapes the future of our children and our community, and I want to help ensure Logan-Magnolia provides the best possible foundation for every student. The school is truly the heart of Logan-Magnolia — it educates our youth, sustains local businesses, and fuels community pride and tradition. Having chosen to make Lo-Ma our home rather than having grown up here, I bring a fresh perspective that’s valuable as we work to attract and retain families in the district. I also bring a business mindset rooted in accountability, transparency, and big-picture thinking — qualities that can strengthen how the board serves our community. I want to use my experience and perspective to make a meaningful difference where it matters most: for our kids, our schools, and our community.
WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? Professionally, I have extensive experience managing large budgets, shaping long-term strategic vision, and fostering open, transparent communication. My work has taught me how to ask thoughtful questions, balance competing priorities, and approach complex challenges collaboratively. I focus on identifying what matters most, making sound, forward-looking decisions, and clearly communicating the “why” behind them. Personally, I’ve experienced the value of a well-rounded education. As a student, I pushed myself academically and stayed active outside the classroom — participating in sports, choir, band, debate, and student council. Those experiences showed me the importance of offering diverse academic, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities that help students discover their strengths and build confidence.
WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? If elected, I’ll focus on thoughtful, informed decision-making that serves the best interests of our students, faculty, families and taxpayers. I’ll be a representative for the entire community — especially for those who may not always feel heard. I’ll work to distinguish needs from wants, maintain fiscal responsibility, and ensure the district’s long-term stability and success. I believe strong communication builds trust. Our community deserves clarity about the priorities behind board decisions and the direction we’re headed. I’ll listen carefully to community members and work to balance perspectives with fairness, integrity, and a steady focus on what’s best for our kids and our community.
