NIKKI ALLEN

CITY/TOWN: Logan

CANDIDATE FOR: Logan-Magnolia School Board

EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: My name is Nikki Allen and I am running for one of the two open seats for the Logan-Magnolia School Board. I grew up in Logan and graduated in 1997.  I went on to study at Dana College and graduated from Bellevue University with a BS in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Photography. My husband, Jeff Allen, is a graduate of LM, and together we have three children: Alex, a 2025 graduate of LM, Nate a sophomore at LM, and Camden a second grader at LM. Jeff and I have worked together to build our businesses Midwest Mechanical Industrial Services, ABP Engineering, Country Hardware & Supply, and A5 Farms. Having served on the City Park Board, I am proud to have contributed to the research and construction of the shelters in City Park as part of a dedicated team. Additionally, we worked together with Kiwanis to construct the playground equipment at Milliman Park. As a member of the Logan Development Board, we built the new doctor's building. Since graduating college, I have served on the Logan Chamber of Commerce as President (2 terms), Co-Chair (1 term), and Vice-President (1 term). As a chamber member, I worked with an excellent team organizing community events including: the Annual Fourth of July Festivities, Pack the Park, and Shiverfest.  I also serve on the Logan, Iowa Community Foundation.

WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? My past journey which includes working and being an advocate for the community has been rewarding. The people I have had an opportunity to collaborate with on the boards are inspiring, and the accomplishments of our projects were with the best intentions of the community. I am running for the board position because I want to represent our community and contribute to the continued improvement of our school. I see inspiring projects and goals being set for not only our youth, but also the staff, and I would like to be a part of future accomplishments. If elected, discussions will be transparent so the community can clearly see the board's and school's goals and processes.

WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? My experience with our community is what best qualifies me for this position. My community involvement, chamber leadership, business management, support for our school and community, and my everyday scorecard offer a unique skill set that will greatly benefit the school.

WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? My goal is to challenge the district to achieve excellence in education and to maintain strong financial stability. Every child should have the opportunity to be great, learn, grow, and make mistakes. They should be able to explore their talents, tackle challenges, achieve goals, know that someone cares for them, and feel safe in their school environment with instructional support from those who care about who they become.
