Larry Merlin Cooper, 86 years old of Little Sioux, passed away on Nov. 17, 2024, after a valiant battle with Muscular Dystrophy.
Larry was born April 15, 1938, in Mondamin, to the parents of Vern Cooper and Lola (Magnet) Cooper.
Larry graduated from Mondamin High School and enlisted in the Army. He attended the Chicago Technical Institute for drafting and Bellevue University.
He married Marilyn Kay Faris of Little Sioux in 1960. They had three children, Bradley Jon, Todd Merlin, and Brandi Lynn.
Larry worked as a machinist for Honeywell until retiring in 1994.
Larry loved coaching his boys in Little League baseball and watching his daughter play soccer. He enjoyed working in the yard, doing puzzles, and watching his favorite shows. He loved football, especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Most of all he loved his family.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Cooper; his son, Brad Cooper; daughter, Brandi Steele (Marcus); his grandchildren, Ryan Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Tanner Steele (Natalie), and Victoria Steele; his great-grandchildren, Grace Cooper and soon to arrive Jack Steele.
Larry is preceded in death by his son, Todd Cooper; his parents, Vern and Lola Cooper; and brothers, Dwight and Duane Cooper.
Services were conducted Nov. 23, 2024.
