Lois Jean Daugherty, 79, died on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Neb. She was born on March 7, 1945, in Rosewood, Ohio to Grover and Ruth (Merman) Everett. She grew up in Ohio and attended school in Rosewood. On Oct. 27, 1962, Lois was united in marriage to Graham Daugherty. Graham was in the Navy, so the couple lived in many locations. When Graham retired in 1978, they moved to Nebraska and in 1982 they settled in Logan.
Lois enjoyed woodworking and crafts. She also enjoyed rebuilding and restoring homes with Graham. Lois loved to drive, she would hop in the car and go visit family any time she could. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed watching the grandkids play sports.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Graham; and brothers, Carl, Harold and Delyn Everett. She is survived by her children; Karen and her husband Tom Sluka of Milligan, Neb., Gail Daugherty of Blair, Neb. and Lee Daugherty and his wife Candace of Santa Fe, Texas; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Rice of Piqua, Ohio and Vicky Thomas of Degraft, Ohio; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Neb. The officiant was Beth Fouts. The recorded musical selection was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. The honorary pallbearers were Lois’s great-grandchildren. The pallbearers were Nicole Baratta, Ashley Warren, Alicia Bolejack, Josh Sluka, Alex Daugherty, James Sluka, Chase Daugherty, Anna Sluka and Gracelyn Daugherty.
