MV library offers many events

Craft birds will be added to the display wall in the children’s section of the Missouri Valley Public Library, and children will have at least one more opportunity to participate in a craft that will be added to the board.
This is one of several programs the library has lined up for children and adults in the coming months. Here is a list of the library’s offerings.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Sign up your youngster anytime at the Youth Circulation Desk. Earn a free book when you reach 1,000 books.
Sing, Play & Bop. This is a storytime for babies, from birth to 18 months, and their caregivers. It will be every Friday at 11 a.m. and starts in September.
Storytime. This is for children under 5 and is at 11 a.m. every Wednesday.
Imagineers After School Club. This program, for elementary and middle school students, focuses on STEAM, which is Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. The program starts in September and is offered on early-out Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Chess Club. The program starts in September and is on the first Monday of the month at 4 p.m. The program starts in September and is geared toward middle school and high school students.
Teen Craft Night. The program is at 5:30 p.m. and is on the second Tuesday of the month. Participants must be in the sixth grade or above to attend.
Young Adult Book Club. This program is at 1 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month. Contact the library for more information.
The Saturday Studio. This program starts in September and will be at 11 a.m. on the first Saturday of the month. The library bills it as “a welcoming space for all ages and skill levels.”
ADULT PROGRAMS
Fireside Cafe. Free coffee! This program will starts in September and be every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library. People are invited to unwind in a relaxing atmosphere where they can read, play games and connect with others.
Book Club. The group currently meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Monday of the month; in October, the time will switch to the third Thursday of the month. This program is a great way to discover new authors and make new friends.
Girls’ Night Out. For the ones who need a night out, this program, starting in September, is for you. Come to the library at 5 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month.
Culivan & Kovar Coffee. Residents of Culivan Heights and Kovar Court are invited to the library on Library of Things. The library has more than just books. Find out what else the library has to offer.
Read Your Way to the New Year. Bingo for adult readers! Get five in a row to earn a prize; get a full blackout and get entered into a drawing to win a cozy book lovers’ basket in January.
Book tree. There’s always something special at the library’s Book Tree. Check one of these books out and discover a secret treat inside.
