MV Youth Track Meet held on June 17
Missouri Valley High School Girls Track and Field team organized a community-wide event this June.
The team put together a three-day Missouri Valley Track Club for grades Kindergarten through 6th. The fundraiser drew 80 students from Missouri Valley, Logan, and Blair, Nebraska.
There were two practice sessions on June 3 and 10, that consisted of short-timed sprints to show each runner’s speed in M.P.H. Participants also ran through various agility courses.
The youth track was held on June 17, where Kindergarten through 2nd graders competed in 50m and 100m races and grades 3rd through 6th competed in 100m, 150m, and a 4x100m relay. Ribbons were awarded to runners in each race.
Approximately 20 coaches, athletes from current and former track and field teams, and parents volunteered to organize and run the track club at MVHS for these three days.
It was well attended, and everyone learned and had fun.
