Paul Andrew Wilderdyke was born on June 18, 1942, in Kansas City to Frank and Dorothy Wilderdyke. The middle child of five, he grew up in Grinnell, and accepted Jesus as his Savior at age 13. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet Cox, on Sept. 28, 1961. The couple had three children: Steven, Robin, and Eric. Paul served in the Navy for 20 years, during which he saw the world, served in Vietnam, and retired as a chief radioman. Following his military career, Paul worked as a digital systems engineer and later a community relations manager with GTE, before moving to Woodbine, in 1990.

Paul was deeply involved in his community, serving in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007, volunteering for various boards, and operating the Logan Health and Fitness Center. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing golf, and cherishing his family.

Paul passed away peacefully on Feb. 11, 2025, at age 82, preceded by his parents, siblings, granddaughter Megan, and great-grandsons Kase and Kye. He is survived by his wife, children, two daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren. Services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
