Harrison County Secondary Roads, Harrison County Landfill and the Harrison County Emergency Management Agency were scheduled to meet Monday afternoon after the Missouri Valley Times-News’ deadline to plan debris removal efforts in the county following the April 26 severe weather.
Several property owners have met with GoServ Global, which is a non-profit, faith-based recovery organization that has offered to help with private property clean-up, Harrison County EMA Director Bonnie Castillo said.
At this time, there are three properties in the Pisgah area that need assistance from volunteers with the following tasks: debris removal, walking fields, chainsaw work, loading debris, volunteer management (collecting names, equipment and hours worked), fence repair, sorting contents of an owner’s machine shed and dismantling tin buildings.
For those who would like to make donations, suggested items include fencing supplies, bottled water, soda, lunch/snacks, gas cards, gloves, totes and any other donations that you feel may help.
The Iowa Individual Disaster Assistance Grant Program was also activated with a proclamation by Gov. Kim Reynolds last week. More information on that can be found in this week's edition of the Times-News.
West Central Community Action can also answer questions about this program and is offering to hold town hall meetings for residents who sustained damage. Please contact WCCA if you would like to hold a meeting.
