Robert Glenn King, 83, died on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Methodist Hospital, in Omaha, Neb. He was born Aug. 12, 1940, to Glenn Harvey and Evelyn Marie (Brown) King near Pisgah. He attended school and graduated from Pisgah High School in 1959, the second in his class of 12. Bob then took a few courses at Omaha University. Robert married Marva Jean Osbahr and to this union Keith Robert and Penny Bernadine were born. He later married Carol Louise Tegland and Beth Leona and Michael Glenn were born. Robert worked for his father farming for a year and then for Bemis Bag, United Pacific Railroad as an IMB operator and as a support person as a Missile Base contractor, then at Lozier’s in purchasing, at General Electric Credit Corporation, as a stockbroker and sold insurance. Robert worked for 16 years in the motorcycle business, selling Yamaha’s, Triumph/BSA, and Kawasaki. Then he worked 30 years as a traveling salesman in the semi-trailer industry, mostly in Nebraska, for Jim Hawk Truck Trailers in Council Bluffs. He retired when he was 76 years old. Most of all Robert enjoyed being a farmer. Robert married Nancy Moffitt Milburn on Nov. 6, 1988, at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley.

Robert was a member of the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley, where he was a lay leader. He had been active with the Missouri Valley Jaycees and Kiwanis and had been president in both groups. In 1974, he acquired his first piece of ground and rented it out. He purchased other ground as he could. He helped with discing after the harvest. At the farm he enjoyed keeping the lawn mowed and the buildings in good shape. Robert would plan a picnic supper every year and would invite friends, neighbors and relatives. The picnic would always end with a fireworks show. He enjoyed fishing trips in Canada and to Lake Michigan. He also enjoyed farming, fireworks and model trains.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith King; and sister, Betty June Smith. He is survived by his wife, Nancy King of Missouri Valley; children, Penny King of Goddard, Kan.; Beth King and her husband Travis Henk of Omaha, Michael King of Omaha, Eric Milburn and his wife Lori  of Rapid City, S.D., Bruce Milburn and his wife Lora of Red Oak, Aleta Milburn of Logan; one brother, Richard “Dick” King of Omaha; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley. Rev. Doug Cue and Rev. Jason Gutzmer presided over the service. The recorded musical selections were “You Are the People”, “The Nearest to Perfect” and “A Whisper Away” by Michael English. The honorary pallbearer was Karol King. The pallbearers were Alex King, Corbin Henk, Jim Rand, Michael Ruffcorn, Tucker Milburn and Alex Rosburg. Robert’s final resting place is at the Soldier Valley Cemetery.
