Trueman Ellis Jacobsen, son of Ellis and Thelma (Wimer) Jacobsen was born on Aug. 12, 1933, in Persia. He was raised on the family farm with his siblings. These early years molded him into the dedicated, hardworking man he became. Trueman graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1952. On May 29, 1954, he married Leona McMullen and together they had five children. On June 9, 1990, Trueman married Charlene (Yochum) and brought to their union three children. Together they adopted a grandchild and their family expanded to a total of nine.
Trueman's early adult years were spent working on the family farm. He then went on to work for Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years primarily and had a second job later working for the Omaha World Herald as a courier for 15 years. Trueman retired from UP in 1995. Retirement didn’t keep Trueman sitting still for long as he then went to work for Online ATM Services as a banking courier for eight years.
Trueman had a love for motorcycles, owning many and went on several road trips throughout the years with friends and family. Sturgis was a favorite destination. His favorite place to be was outside, mowing, working in a garden, planting flowers and beautifying their yard and home. Trueman enjoyed entertaining and hosted many social events and even weddings at their home over the years. He was fond of all things John Deere and collected many tractors. Trueman had attended Grace Community Fellowship.
On March 3, 2026, Trueman passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.
Trueman was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Thelma (Wimer); son, Charles Jacobsen; brother, Rolland Jacobsen; sisters, LaVonne Hainline and Jeanette Best; grandchildren Shelby Lakes and Ethan Linehan; brothers-in-law, Francis Hainline and Bob Jordan; and son-in-law, Kent Stoneking.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene (Yochum); sisters, Maryln Jordan and Shirley Cunard (Keith); children, Barbara Royal (Don), Elvis Jacobsen (Val), Linda Miller and Lynne Barr (Rick), Tona Lager (Marty), Shannon Stoneking, Janet Hart (Joe) and Sheyenne Eilers. Trueman leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces, nephews, family and friends which he loved dearly.
Services were conducted March 9, 2026, at Hennessey Funeral Home, in Missouri Valley.
