Tigers qualify two events for 58th Drake Relays
Woodbine will send two events to this week’s (April 20-24) Drake Relays on the Jim Duncan Track inside Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Woodbine’s Vanessa Blum (fr.) qualified in the high jump, the only freshmen in the all-class field, will jump at 9:30 a.m. on April 24. The girls high jump consists of the top 24 in the state, regardless of school size. Blum set a school record in the high jump with a first place finish of 5’5” at the Tri-Center Invite (April 16) to qualify.
Woodbine’s 4 x 100 m relay team of Micah Moores, Brenden Wagner, Dillon Reed and Landon Blum set a new school record of 44.09 at the Waukee Northwest Invite (April 16) last week to qualify. The top 96 sprint relay teams in the state, regardless of school size, qualify for the Des Moines showcase event at the end of April. This will be Woodbine’s first relay team at the Drake Relays since 2012.
