Five area seniors selected for 2026 Iowa Governor Scholarship
The top Iowa High School Academic Students were chosen by their member schools for the 2026 Iowa Governor’s Scholar Program, honored at a ceremony held in Des Moines on April 26. The Iowa Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and the Iowa Farm Bureau (title sponsor), started presenting this recognition in 2003.
The seniors being honored were selected by their high schools as the highest academic achievers. Students receive a photo plaque from the ceremony and a certificate to commemorate their achievement.
All schools were invited to select one senior who is the highest academic achiever. The largest 64 schools in Iowa, according to the Iowa Department of Education BEDS document, were invited to select two seniors who are the highest academic achievers.
