WEST HARRISON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MONTHLY MEETING – 6:30 PM November 8, 2023 LIBRARY – MONDAMIN, IA The West Harrison Community School District Board of Education met in regular session with the following present: Randy Wohlers, Kim Nunez, Lorraine Thomas and Hillary Stevenson Directors. Marty Fonley, Superintendent, Jackie Fonley, Principal, Tonya Radil, Board Secretary/Treasurer Visitors. WHEA Representative Nicole Melby, Emmalyce Tyson, Colt Heistercamp, James Kraft, and Caden Etter. Called to Order. The meeting was called to order in the Library at 6:31 p.m. by President Wohlers. Roll Call. Consent Agenda. Motion was made by Director Thomas and second by Director Stevenson to consent agenda, board minutes from September 9, 2023, approval of monthly bills, and approval of financial reports. Discussion. Directors Wohlers aye, Nunez aye, Thomas aye and Stevenson aye. 4-0 Motion carried. Public Hearing for the Sale of Two Buses to Missouri Valley CSD. The public hearing was opened by President Wohlers at 6:31 p.m. Mr. Fonley discussed the sale of two buses to Missouri Valley CSD. There was no public comments. The public hearing was closed at 6:32 p.m. Motion was made by Director Nunez and second by Director Stevenson to approve the sale of two buses. Discussion. Consideration of Early Graduates. Motion was made by Director Nunez and second by Director Stevenson to approve the graduates assuming they meet all credit requirements. Discussion. Motion was made by Director Thomas and second by Director Stevenson to approve the application to the SBRC for $72,152.00. Discussion. Motion was made by Director Nunez and second by Director Thomas to approve the following individuals Carmen Konecy, Amanda Lawrenson, Heather Barry, Shannon Cox, Rachel Ortiz, Maggie Rains, Skyler Wohlers, Gary Smith, Donella Pauli, Karen Breyfogle, Halie Stirtz, Gina Birdsall, Todd Goodwater, Keri King, Hillary Stevenson, Jackie Fonley, and Marty Fonley to service on the district School Improvement Advisory Committee. Motion was made by Director Nunez and second by Director Stevenson to approve the 2023 district report. Mr. Fonley shared a report of district data, the data included information on subgroups, course enrollment, and financial health. Consideration of Modified Allowable Growth SBRC Application for Open Enrollment Out. Motion was made by Director Thomas and second by Director Stevenson to apply for the Modified Allowable Growth SBRC Application in the amount of $183,565.80. Discussion. Motion was made by Director Stevenson and second by Director Nunez to approve Student Council and Prom fundraisers. Discussion. Motion was made by Director Nunez and second by Director Thomas to approve the contract for Rick’s computers. Discussion. Directors Wohlers aye, Nunez aye, Thomas aye and Stevenson aye. 4-0 Motion carried. Administration Reports. Mrs. Fonley shared information about the Iowa School Performance Profile. The Iowa School Performance Profile is an online tool showing how public schools performed on required measures. The website was developed to meet both the federal and state requirements for publishing online school report cards. West Harrison received the following designations (state average is 54.81): West Harrison Elementary – High Preforming 61.43 and West Harrison Middle/High School High Performing 62.44.
