Name: Tony Bantam

City/town: Woodbine

Candidate for: Woodbine City Council

Explain who you are: I have been a resident of Woodbine Iowa for 43 Years.

Why did you run for this position? I feel that it is the responsibility of citizens to be involved in the community. We are all beneficiaries of the quality of life that is to be enjoyed in our town. It seems that it is appropriate for each of us to do what we can to continue helping Woodbine grow in a positive direction.

What from your background qualifies you for this position? With the help of volunteers, I spent 7 years rebuilding the Woodbine Little League Baseball program. We regained the momentum that had been lost over the years and developed an organization that was very successful. The program has gone way past what we built but I feel we established a good foundation.

I have served as secretary on the Woodbine Carnegie Library Board for several years and contributed to the success of a very good Library. I spent a good portion of my career in the livestock feed business developing plans and programs to assist in the success of livestock producers.

What are your goals if elected? A town only exists as long as it has a purpose, when that propose fades away so does the town. Someone once said that nothing stands still, it either growing or dying. I have watched many towns slowly die from a lack of vision and purpose. My goal if elected is to help keep the momentum that Woodbine has held in the past decade. It I essential to support the growth of our community.

I believe that the first element of a strong community is a balanced budget. The world of opportunities opens up when we are operating in the black.
