Flag Retirement Ceremony held in Woodbine on Oct. 28

The Woodbine American Legion Post 143 will be conducting an American flag retirement ceremony on October 28 at the Woodbine Main Street offices beginning at 6 p.m. The event is open to all communities and residents of Harrison County who want to patriotically retire old and worn American flags.

“The purpose of the American Legion flag retirement ceremony is to provide a dignified disposal of our country’s flags,” said Steve Harrington, Woodbine Legion Commander. “Our American Flag is a precious symbol of all that our country has worked for, lived for, and died for and deserves to be retired with honor,” Harrington continued.

Residents of Harrison County can find flag collection spots in each community, which will be collected for proper disposal throughout the year. The Woodbine legion conducts the flag ceremony annually on Flag Day in June and again in the fall.
