Ann Elizabeth Blusys age 83 passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2024. Ann was born on Aug. 14, 1940, in Boone, to Charles Hartnett and Edna (Capesius) Hartnett.

Ann graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. Her first job was as a scrub nurse. After she married, she was a dedicated full-time mother to her three children and lived in Omaha, Neb. She was a champion of creating family traditions over the holidays with cookie baking, May-basket making, cake decorating, craft making, and home sewn costumes for Halloween and Christmas concerts. She always put out a spread of food for special occasions. She volunteered as a Bluebird/Campfire Girl leader and as a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Later in life, Ann earned a paralegal degree from Metropolitan Community College in Omaha. Ann was a straight-A student and was on the Dean’s List every semester. After working for some time as a paralegal, Ann worked at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Missouri Valley, where she also volunteered her time and donated plants to fix up the courtyard at St. Patrick’s. Ann’s last job was working to care for the elderly at a nursing home in Missouri Valley.

Ann enjoyed living for many of her later years on an acreage near Honey Creek in the beautiful Loess Hills on the western edge of Iowa. She grew a very large vegetable garden and enjoyed watching the wildlife that visited her yard.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Charles Hartnett Jr., Patricia Hartnett, George Hartnett; and by her former husband, Harry Blusys.

She is survived by her three children, David (Kerry) Blusys, Christine (Phillip) Fiedler, and Joseph (Megan) Blusys; and five grandchildren, Elena (Darin) Einspahr, Grace Blusys, Nathan Blusys, Patrick Fiedler, and Caroline (Austin Garcia) Fiedler.
