Board of Adjustment May 19, 2025 Missouri Valley Public Library 8:00 am The meeting was called to order by John Harrison. Board members present were John Dems, Mike Nielsen, Mary Jo Buckley, and Dennis Collier. City Administrator Turri Colglazier and Building Official John Harrison were present. Citizens attending were Justin Rogers, Grace Larsen, Richard Collier, Randy Bradley, and Steve Collier. Dennis Collier introduced himself as a new Board member. Motion to nominate and elect John Dems for Board of Adjustments Chairperson made by Nielsen, second by Buckley. Motion passes. Public Hearing for Variance Request for Eric Colmenars and Justin Rogers at 557 N 3rd St, TLCO Lot 13 Block 72, requesting variance from the minimum required front yard setback regulation to allow the construction of a front deck on property. Motion to cut deck back 4’ to allow for the variance made by Nielsen, second by Dems. Motion passes. Public Hearing for Variance Request for Dennis Collier at 407 S 9th St, Seatons Lots 3, 4, and 5 Block 3, requesting variance from applicable floodplain development requirements to allow construction of a 32’ X 48’ pole barn. Motion to approve variance without raising building and to keep it as close to DNR regulations made by Dems, second by Nielsen. Aye – Nielsen, Dems, and Buckley. Abstain – Collier. Motion passes.
