Brian K. Day

Posted

Brian Keith Day was born Nov. 20, 1957, and passed into the arms of our Lord on Oct. 16, 2026.

Brian grew up on the Day family farm and orchard just outside Mondamin with his parents Glenn and Joy Day. He was a true Iowa farm kid, working alongside his dad and Mom enjoying the simple joys that farm life brings. After his dad passed away in 1985, he and his mom continued to run the Day’s Orchard business for many years.

Brian was a 1976 graduate of West Harrison High school and was a lifelong member of the

Missouri Valley Church of Christ.

Due to a back injury, Brian had been a resident of Longview Nursing Home for the past 13 years. He turned a potentially negative development in his life into a truly joyous life. Although confined to a wheelchair, he made it his goal to befriend every resident in the home. He loved going from room to room and greeting everyone by name. He also developed wonderful friendships with the Longview staff.

Brian was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and had great fun with the Hawkeyes vs. Cornhuskers rivalry games, as much goodhearted teasing was bantered about during football season.

Brian is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Jim Fry of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; Cousin Mary Fustos of Omaha, Neb.; Uncle Bud Busing of Missouri Valley and family friends Ruth and Walter Utman of Modale.

Graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, at Woodbine Cemetery.

Arrangements made by Hennessey Funeral Home, Missouri Valley.
