Darrell D. Vorthmann, 64, passed away on Jan. 22, 2024, at his home in Omaha, Neb. Darrell was born on Nov. 24, 1959, in Missouri Valley, to Paul and Margaret Vorthmann and is the third oldest of ten siblings. He graduated from Mo. Valley High School in 1978. Darrell served in the US Army as a Helicopter Crew Chief from 1978-1981. Darrell worked as a Steamfitter and was a member of Steamfittters & Plumbers Local Union 464 for the last 24 years. Darrell also taught steamfitter/plumbing classes at Metro Tech. Darrell has worked as Foreman on many large projects. He was very proud of his ability to develop new procedures to test and complete projects more efficiently, saving the company thousands of dollars.
Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Paul J. Vorthmann; and son Zachary Vorthmann. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Vorthmann; wife, Patti; three children and four grandchildren, Sara (Justin) Mohn, (granddaughters Rebecca and Evelyn), Matthew Vorthmann, Jill (James) Vorthmann, (grandson Kayden), Stepson Mark (Kikki) Sowokinos (grandson Quinn); brothers, Paul Vorthmann, Dave (Pennie) Vorthmann, Tom (Dawn) Vorthmann and Rex (Christie) Vorthmann; sisters, Kathy (Patrick) Minikus, Donna Mark, Lou Ann (Curt) Phillips, Mary (Hame) HameArbane and Cindy Hallett. Services were held at Korisko Larkin Staskiewicz Funeral Home in Omaha, Neb on Jan. 28 and 29, 2024.
