Harrison County Supervisors Meeting December 31, 2024 Chairman Tony Smith called the meeting to order with members Brian Rife and John Straight in attendance. The tentative agenda was approved on a motion by Straight, second by Rife. Motion carried. Previous minutes were approved on a motion by Rife, second by Straight. Motion Carried. Attendance: Paul J. Motion carried. Discussion on city code violations Ellissa Kappes presented the board with a notice from the city of Modale regarding her property being condemned and fines being assessed. The board advised her there was nothing they could do since the property was within Modale city limits. With business of the day completed, the Board adjourned on a motion by Rife, second by Straight. Motion carried. Motion by Smith, seconded by Wilkerson. Motion carried. County Engineer OttaSeal resurfacing for F20/Easton Tail: Engineer Struble and Arnold Smith worked on plans for the resurfacing project on the road between Little Sioux and Pisgah. Asphalt overlay on L20: Final plans have been submitted for the overlay project on L20 south of Missouri Valley to the Pottawattamie County line. Crews have been stockpiling rock, mowing and clearing ditches, and preparing for the expected snowfall. Engineer Struble is reviewing applications for the recently opened truck driver position and will begin interviewing soon. Discussion was held on the County’s policy for road crews responding to road conditions from weather. Comments Wilkerson shared that she had received concerns about the Courthouse flagpole. Auditor Reffett shared that the previous flag had been damaged in a storm hadn’t been replaced. Smith offered to look into getting someone to replace it. Michele Stirtz expressed concerns about the roads department policy on responding to weather related road conditions. With business of the day completed, the Board adjourned on a motion by Smith, second by Wilkerson. Motion carried.
