Harrison County Supervisors Meeting June 12, 2025 Chairman Brian Rife called the meeting to order with members Tony Smith and Rebecca Wilkerson in attendance. Motion to approve the tentative agenda was made by Smith, second by Wilkerson. Motion carried. Attendance: Auditor Megan Reffett, Paul Rhoten, Benjamin Schauer, Jack Jones, Tina Fagan County Engineer Updates County Engineer Dave Sims gave updates on the department. He updated the board on training that he plans to attend in the next couple of months. He is working with the DOT to start the annual reports and plans to complete it early to allow for time if the DOT has additional changes. Deaf Children Signage Dave Sims informed the Board that a resident had requested deaf child signage near their residence. He informed the board that he was unable to find a county policy regarding the issue and requested their input on whether the county would be interested in proceeding. The board requested Sims reach out to the DOT and see if they have a policy or recommendation. Medical Examiner Investigator Contracts The Board reviewed the contracts for the appointed Medical Examiner Investigators that had been drafted by County Attorney Delanty. Motion to approve the contracts by Wilkerson, second by Smith. Motion carried. Discussion on Selling County Owned Property in Magnolia The board reviewed the request to sell the county owned property on the East side of Blk 22 in Magnolia. The property was obtained by the County in 1992 following a tax sale at the price of $37. Discussion was held on accepting bids and a minimum bid amount. The motion to accept bids until 9:00 am on July 10th with a minimum bid of $50 was made by Smith, second by Wilkerson. Motion carried. Approval of Handwritten Warrant to US Bank The Board approved the handwritten warrant to US Bank in the amount of $7,123.98. Motion by Wilkerson, second by Smith. Motion carried. Change Request #6 for Courthouse Entrance Project The Board reviewed the presented change request to build a support wall for the stairs to attach to the entrance landing on the East side of the building. Motion to approve by Smith, second by Wilkerson. Motion carried. Sheriff’s Office Contracts for Law Enforcement The Board reviewed the Law Enforcement Contracts for Persia, Mondamin, Magnolia, Little Sioux, Modale, and Pisgah. Contracts remained the same as the current year at $20 per resident to be paid in quarterly payments. Motion to approve by Wilkerson, second by Smith. Motion carried. Comment Rife and Smith gave updates on meetings they had attended. Wilkerson gave a reminder about the hazardous waste collection day happening in Missouri Valley. With business of the day completed, the Board adjourned on a motion by Smith, second by Wilkerson. Motion carried.
