Karen M. (Allen) Nuzum age 74, of Missouri Valley, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. Karen was born July 9, 1949, in Logan, to Ira and Viola (Flaharty) Allen. Karen was the second youngest of 10 children. Karen enjoyed helping raise her many nieces and nephews. Karen was united in marriage to Eugene Nuzum on May 13, 1972. From this union they had three children Chad, Jeremy, and Valerie.
Karen loved being with her children, and her granddaughter. Karen’s favorite job was babysitting for several families, the last children being Meghan, Natalie, and Cody who became her extended family. She also worked at McDonald’s and the Dollar Store during these years. Karen enjoyed reading, music, cooking, and making candy for Christmas. She loved to collect Charlie Brown, and Snoopy decorations along with Raggedy Ann and Andy.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Ira and Viola Allen; stepfather, Herb Swanger; brothers, William, Francis (Hank), Michael, and Leroy Allen; sisters, Barbara, Jessie, Eleanor (Maggie), Marilyn, Muriel, and Pauline; other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Remaining to cherish Karen’s memory: sons, Chad and Jeremy Nuzum; daughter, Valerie Daly (Jim); stepdaughter, Stephany Nuzum; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nuzum. We would like to acknowledge her extended family: Linda Stueve, Michelle, Doty, Meghan, Natalie, and Cody Brunow many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 at Hennessey Funeral Home.
