LITTLE SIOUX DRAINAGE DISTRICT RECLAIMING RIGHT-OF-WAY AND TRAVEL ON RIGHT-OF-WAY PROHIBITED The Trustees of the Little Sioux Intercounty Drainage District for Monona, Woodbury and Harrison Counties, which includes the Monona-Harrison drainage ditch and the Woodbury-Monona drainage ditch, find there is a need to reclaim the right-of-way. Some of the landowners and tenants are farming over the tops of the levees, sometimes with preparation through deep tillage. The growing crops prohibit the maintenance of the improvements and restricts travel on the levees. Since there is a need to do maintenance, spraying and inspections, the trustees have adopted a resolution that no crop or tillage of any kind will be permitted on the top of the levee. As to crops growing anywhere on the right-of-way the landowner will NOT be reimbursed for any crop damage as a result of maintenance of the ditch. Last, travel on the rights-of-way of the Little Sioux Inter-County Drainage District, which includes the Monona-Harrison Ditch and the Woodbury-Monona Ditch, in Monona, Woodbury and Harrison Counties, Iowa is prohibited except by written permission from the District and except as to farmers who own or lease lands adjacent to the right-of-way of said district who may use the same for agricultural purposes provided the right-of-way is dry and stable or frozen. Any person in violation shall be subject to the penalties and provision of Section 468.149, Et seq. of the 2022 Code of Iowa. The Trustees ask the cooperation of the landowners in the Little Sioux Drainage District, which includes the Monona Harrison ditch and the Woodbury-Monona ditch to accomplish the purpose of its improvements, which is to give good drainage and to prevent flooding. If the landowners have any questions, they should make an appointment with the Drainage Clerk at 712-433-2630, to attend the next scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees which is held the first Thursday of each month.
