Sally Ann Nielson, age 83, of Modale, passed away Dec. 26, 2023, at Prairie Gate in Council Bluffs. Sally was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Council Bluffs to the late Owen and Julia (Barrett) Witthauer. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958. Sally married Bert C. Nielson, Jr. on June 27, 1958. They were blessed with two daughters, Julie and Laurie. Sally was a homemaker and had a great love of horses. She was a member of Reach Church in Blair, Neb. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Nielson in 1999; two sisters and three brothers. Sally is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bert C. Nielson, Jr. of Modale; daughters, Julie Nielson and Laurie Burns; three grandchildren, Josh, Tyler and Markie; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Graveside service and burial was held, Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, in Garner Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Special Olympics or Midlands Humane Society.
