U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS FORMER OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, ATLAS "D" MISSILE SITE 3 PUBLIC MEETING WHO: Interested Community Members WHEN: May 21, 2025, 6:00-8:00 PM WHERE: Rand Community Center 100 South 4th Street, Missouri Valley, Iowa Missouri Valley, Iowa - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a public meeting, that will begin with an open-house style posterboard session, followed by a presentation on the status of environmental investigations for the former Offutt Air Force Base, Atlas "D" Missile Site 3, a formerly used defense site. Missile Site 3 was an Atlas "D" Missile Site for the potential launch of Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles until it was deactivated in 1964. The purpose of the environmental investigations is to determine the presence and extent of contamination from Cold War Missile Defense activities. The public meeting will be held at the Rand Community Center on May 21, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives will provide information on completed investigation activities, ongoing sampling activities, and path forward. The public is encouraged to attend, obtain more information, ask questions, and provide feedback about the environmental activities at the former Offutt Air Force Base, Atlas "D" Missile Site 3.
