Cardinals top Big Reds
Missouri Valley battled to the end, but came up short in a 40-0 setback to District Champion Treynor in the Class 1A, District 8 finale on Oct. 16 in Missouri Valley.
“We played hard, competed, and left it all on the field,” stated first year Head Coach Jake Driver. “No matter what the scoreboard said, all season long, these guys never quit. They kept lining up, every snap, and did everything we asked. I’m proud of them, and I thank them for their efforts.”
Defensively, it was the Big Reds best performance of the season. Jack Handlos (7.5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery), James Wendt (7.0 tackles, 1 INT); Colt Stoltz (5.5 tackles) and Carter Tiffey (4.5 tackles) led the Big Reds’ defense.
Jack Handlos (37 yards passing / 89 yds rushing), Luke Schroeder (52 yards rushing), and Owen Becerra (27 yards receiving) led the Big Reds offense.
“I can honestly say, I wish I had more time with this group,” Driver concluded. “They were very coachable and driven to succeed. I couldn’t ask for better leaders in my first year, they will be missed.”
Missouri Valley (1-4, 1-8) finished the 2026 campaign.
