Harrison County Sheriff's Report: September 2026
The Harrison County Sheriff's Office booked 43 people into the county jail in September.
Deputies made several assault arrests. On Sept. 3, John Nichols of rural Modale was arrested for assault after an incident at a home on Enfield Trail. On Sept. 7, Angela Brunow of rural Woodbine was arrested for assault after a disturbance on Perkins Avenue. Later that day, Ethan Smith of rural Logan was arrested for assault and obstruction of emergency communication after a disturbance on Niagara Trail. On Sept. 9, Thomas Axtell of Missouri Valley and David Van Soelen of Honey Creek were charged with assault after an incident reported by Missouri Valley Hospital. Nichole Madsen of Pisgah was arrested Sept. 1 for violating a protection order.
Keiffer Smith of Omaha was arrested for OWI on Sept. 12 after a single-vehicle crash into a power pole at 1st Street and Vine Street near Little Sioux.
Three people were arrested Sept. 13 after a disturbance at a business on N. 4th Avenue in Logan. Dustin Peasley of Logan was charged with disorderly conduct. Derek Dow of Savannah, Mo., and Dalton Pospisil of Pisgah were charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Two other Logan men were arrested for public intoxication: Dean Bratetic on Sept. 15 and Danny Shannon on Sept. 28.
Deputies served a search warrant Sept. 2 at a home on 1st Street in Pisgah and seized controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. That investigation is ongoing. On Sept. 6, the sheriff's police dog, Drako, alerted on a vehicle during a Dunlap Police traffic stop, and officers seized several controlled substances. Dunlap Police are handling those charges.
Six people were arrested on Harrison County warrants: Juan Mejia-Gallardo of Omaha on Sept. 2, Amanda Duncan of Avoca on Sept. 6, Alison Frank of Council Bluffs on Sept. 15, Anthony Hytrek of rural Logan and Lisanne Klaahsen of Dunlap on Sept. 23, and Brian Kraft of Logan on Sept. 29. Alice Howerton of Modale was sentenced to prison in district court Sept. 14 and was taken to prison in Mitchellville on Sept. 22.
Deputies also helped city police with assault and disturbance calls in Woodbine and Missouri Valley that led to four arrests. Those departments are handling the charges.
Several theft cases remain under investigation, including damage to a travel trailer in Persia, a theft off Lima Trail, and checks written on a closed account at a business near Missouri Valley. A vehicle stolen in Omaha was found abandoned on 342nd Street on Sept. 11, and a vehicle was reported stolen from a home on Austin Avenue on Sept. 25. A missing or stolen gun reported by a Logan resident was entered into the national crime database. Property stolen from a home in Logan on Sept. 20 was recovered, and a juvenile was identified as the suspect.
Deputies investigated more than a dozen crashes, including two at 7th Street and 3rd Avenue in Logan, a motorcycle crash on Interstate 29 near mile marker 95, and a four-wheeler accident off Highway 37. They are also investigating a dog bite on Reading Trail and an animal neglect complaint on Overton Avenue.
