Julianne Hall, the daughter of Calvin Baird and Lois Irene (Horn) Walker, was born July 26, 1945, in Newton. She attended Missouri Valley schools. She was united in marriage to Ronald Rodewald. To this union three children were born, Thomas, Penny and Susan.

Julie had worked at the First Newton National Bank and as a hospital file clerk in radiology. Julie was an avid reader, always having a new mystery to explore. Julie’s true passion was an endless journey through time, as she sought out hidden treasures from bygone eras. Each antique store visit or flea market exploration was a thrilling quest to uncover unique pieces that held stories of the past, adding a sense of history and character to her collections. Her enthusiasm for preserving and appreciating the craftsmanship of yesteryear is a testament to her love for the art of antiquing.

In 1981, Julie would marry Rick Hall. He would precede her in death in 2016.

Julie died on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at her home in Newton. She was 78 years old. Julie was also preceded in death by her parents; and a son-in-law, Todd Esrey.

Throughout her years, Julie was blessed to be a part of her late husband, Rick's loving and supportive family and maintained a close relationship with them. She is also survived by her husband, Ron Rodewald's family who have always been near and dear to her; and by her close friend and companion, Jim McKinstry, who loved her dearly.
