ORDINANCE #609 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MISSOURI VALLEY, IOWA, BY AMENDING PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO LIBRARY TRUSTEES Be It Enacted by the City Council of the City of Missouri Valley, Iowa: SECTION 1. SECTION MODIFIED. Section 22.02 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Missouri Valley, Iowa, are repealed and the following adopted in lieu thereof: 22.02 LIBRARY TRUSTEES. The Board of Trustees of the Library, hereinafter referred to as the Board, shall consist of five trustees. At all times, at least two trustees shall be residents of the City; and likewise, no more than three trustees shall be nonresidents. The resident trustees are to be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council, and the nonresident trustee(s) is/are to be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Harrison County Board of Supervisors. SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. WHEN EFFECTIVE. The amendments to Section 22.02 of this ordinance shall become effective after final passage, approval and publication as provided by law. All other amendments contained within this ordinance shall be in effect from and a after the ordinance’s final passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
