Regional Planning Affiliations (RPA) 13 and 18 in Iowa, in collaboration with the Southwest Iowa Transit Agency, released their Draft FY2024-FY2029 Passenger Transportation Plan for public comment. The public comment period runs Feb. 1 through March 2, 2023. The plan covers Harrison, Mills, Pottawattamie and Shelby Counties in RPA-18 and Cass, Fremont, Page and Montgomery Counties in RPA-13. Regional Planning Affiliations across Iowa develop Passenger Transportation Plans to coordinate health and human service transportation and public transit to promote and further the development of the region’s public transportation system. Southwest Iowa Transit Agency (SWITA) is the main public transit provider in the region. The Draft Passenger Transportation Plan is a collaborative effort every five years to ensure the priorities of SWITA, its partner agencies, local municipalities and riders' concerns are addressed and planned. The plan includes goals and strategies for employer work routes, health and human service transportation, coordination with school districts, and an inventory of all passenger transportation entities within the region. Review the Draft FY2024-FY2029 Passenger Transportation Plan and complete a public comment form at mapacog.org/reports/daftptp/.
