CITY OF LOGAN CITY COUNCIL MEETING 108 W. 4th STREET February 20, 2024 At 6:00 P.M. Mayor McDonald called the meeting to order. Agenda item 2 was the Pledge of Allegiance. Agenda item 3 was roll call. Council Members DeWitt, Hinkel, Moss, Sporrer, Troshynski and Mayor McDonald were present. Agenda item 4 was to approve the agenda. Motion was made by Hinkel and seconded by Sporrer to approve the agenda. 5 ayes. Agenda item 5 was approve consent agenda which consisted of approving the minutes of the February 5, 2024 regular meeting, setting the next meeting date as March 4th, approve the claims register and building permits for Joe Muell, 316 W 5th St, remove concrete and build new steps; Jason Burnham, 221 W 7th St, concrete sidewalk. Motion was made by Troshynski and seconded by Hinkel to approve the consent agenda. 5 ayes. Agenda item 6 was to discuss water treatment plant improvements. It was decided to discuss with Veenstra & Kimm to see about revising the rehab project and revising with new plant location option. No decision was made. Agenda item 7 was to decide on whether or not to terminate the farm lease on the City’s Noneman property for the 2025 farm season. The farm lease will be left alone. Agenda item 8 was to approve hiring Patricia Cook for the position of part-time janitor. Motion was made by Hinkel and seconded by Moss to hire Patricia Cook as part-time janitor. 5 ayes. Agenda item 9 was approve Resolution 24-3: A resolution establishing the wages for Patricia Cook as part-time janitor. Agenda item 10 was the Clerk’s report. Agenda item 11 was citizen’s questions/comments. There were none. Agenda item 12 was the Budget Work Session. Clerk Winther said property tax portion side of the budget looks like the tax rate will go down to $14.98, which is a $1.27 decrease. Clerk Winther is working to finalize the property tax levy hearing which will be April 1st.
