Harrison County Supervisors Meeting December 21, 2023 Chairman John Straight called the meeting to order with members Tony Smith and Brian Rife in attendance. Motion to approve the tentative agenda was made by Smith, second by Rife. Motion carried. Motion to approve the previous minutes was made by Smith, second by Rife. Motion carried. Attendance: Auditor Susan Bonham, Paul J. Rhoten Old Pisgah Gas Station Mayor Ron Woodward asked when the old Pisgah gas station building was going to be removed. The Board said that according to the County Engineer Struble, it’s scheduled for removal the second and third weeks in January. HVAC Auditor Bonham reviewed a quote from Control Services to replace a compressor on the HVAC unit for the courtroom at a cost of $5,634. Motion to approve by Smith, second by Rife. Motion carried. Comprehensive Plan An agreement with Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) to update the County’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan was approved on a motion by Rife, second by Smith. Motion carried. Maximus Agreement A six-year agreement with Maximus to perform the County’s cost allocation plan was approved on a motion by Rife, second by Smith. Motion carried. FY25 Budget Auditor Bonham told the Board that she was still working on the taxable valuations for the County, but early indications appear that the general basic and rural basic levies would be lower due to the tax limitation as overall taxable growth exceeded 3%. Claims Claims, as presented, were stamped for approval. Comments Supervisor comments included 242nd Trail, Anderson Street in Modale and the Schwertley Ditch. No action taken. With business of the day completed, the Board adjourned on a motion by Rife, second by Smith. Motion carried.
