WEST HARRISON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MONTHLY MEETING – 6:30 PM June 8, 2022 LIBRARY – MONDAMIN, IA The West Harrison Community School District Board of Education met in regular session with the following present: Randy Wohlers, Julie Kuhlman and Kim Nunez Directors. Mr. Marty Fonley, Superintendent, Casey Ring, Principal, and Tonya Radil, Board Secretary/Treasurer Visitors. Angie Smith (WHEA Representative) and Troy Maasen Called to Order. The meeting was called to order in the Library at 6:30 p.m. by President Wohlers. Consent Agenda. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Nunez to approve the agenda, May 11 board minutes, and financial reports. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Nunez to approve the school fees for FY 22-23. Motion was made by Director Nunez and second by Director Kuhlman to approve the Staff Handbook for FY 22-23. Discussion. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Nunez to accept the bank depositories from Community Bank at $3,000,000, Midstates Bank at $1,000,000, Farmers Bank $1,000,000 QZAB Bond. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Nunez to approve payment of FY 21-22 EOY bills. President Wohler will review the bills with the board secretary on June 30, 2022. Consideration of RFP for Auditing Services. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Nunez to approve the auditing services from Nolte, Cornman and Johnson, P.C. Discussion. Ayes Directors Wohlers, Kuhlman and Nunez. 3-0 Motion carried. Administrative Reports. Mr. Maasen reports about the Summer Weights Program. Drew Radloff will coach the girls on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Jesse Radil will coach the boys Tues, Wed, and Thurs (8-9am or 6-7pm) with chance to assist with girls. These roles run through July, and athletes can take the 4th of July week off without affecting attendance monitoring. On the football practice field in June, we created a youth baseball/softball field. Each season, this can be done to support on-campus youth initiatives. Gym flooring update: Hollins began June 1. Everything's on plan. Currently examining court lines and stain colors. Mrs. Ring reports that she is looking into Middle School Science curriculum. Mrs. Ring thanked West Harrison and the School board for her time here. Mr. Fonley reports the Iowa Legislature passed a bill late Tuesday that removes a March 1 deadline. He also shared the positions that are available. There will not be a July Board Meeting. The next regular board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. August 10, 2022 Adjournment.
