WEST HARRISON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MONTHLY MEETING – 6:30PM November 15, 2021 LIBRARY – MONDAMIN, IA The West Harrison Community School District Board of Education met in regular session with the following present: Randy Wohlers, Tim Hamer, Julie Kuhlman, and Jennifer Thomas, Directors. Mr. Marty Fonley, Superintendent, Tonya Radil, Board Secretary/Treasurer. Visitors. Called to Order. The meeting was called to order in the Library at 6:30 p.m. by President Wohlers. Roll Call: President Wohler, Vice President Thomas, Director Kuhlman, and Director Hamer were all present. Consent Agenda. Motion was made by Director Hamer and second by Director Kuhlman to amend the agenda. Mr. Fonley would like to add the School Budget Review Committee to the agenda. Discussion. Ayes Directors Kuhlman, Hamer, Thomas and Wohlers 4-0 Motion carried. Motion was made by Director Hamer and second by Director Kuhlman to consent agenda includes the school board election results and School Budget Review Committee Discussion. Ayes Directors Kuhlman, Hamer, Thomas and Wohlers 4-0 Motion carried. Consideration of School Board Election Results. Motion was made by Director Thomas and second by Director Kuhlman to approve the school board election results. Ayes Directors Kuhlman, Hamer, Thomas and Wohlers 4-0 Motion carried Adjournment. The meeting was called to order in the High School Library by the Board Secretary Tonya Radil at 6:33 p.m. Election of President. Director Wohlers nominated as Board President. Roll call. Ayes Directors Stevenson, Kuhlman, Hamer, and Nunez. 4-0 Motion carried. Election of Vice President. Director Hamer nominated as Vice President. Roll call. Ayes Directors Wohlers, Kuhlman, and Hamer. 4-0 Motion carried. Appointment of Secretary. Director Kuhlman appointed Tonya Radil as Board Secretary second by Director Hamer. No objection. Ayes Directors. Stevenson, Kuhlman, Hamer, Wohlers and Nunez 5-0 Motion carried. Appointment of Legal Counsel to the District. Motion was made by Director Nunez and second by Director Stevenson to continue legal counsel from Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. of Des Moines and Minnihan Law Firm of Onawa, IA. No objection. Ayes Directors. Stevenson, Kuhlman, Hamer, Wohlers and Nunez. 5-0 Motion carried. Name of Publication. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Stevenson to continue using Missouri Valley Times News for publication. No objection. Ayes Directors. Stevenson, Kuhlman, Hamer, Wohlers and Nunez. 5-0 Motion carried. Appointment of Committees. Motion was made by Director Hamer and second by Director Stevenson to appoint the following Directors to the each of the committees listed. Negotiations: Directors Wohlers and Nunez Legislative Liaison: Director Hamer and Kuhlman Financial Review: Directors Stevenson County Conference Board Harrison County: Director Wohlers County Conference Board Monona County: Director Kuhlman IASB Delegate: Director Stevenson Wellness: Director Nunez School Improvement Advisory Council (SIAC): Director Nunez No objection. Ayes Directors. Stevenson, Kuhlman, Hamer, Wohlers and Nunez. 5-0 Motion carried. Establish Time and Place of Meeting. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Nunez. We will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the West Harrison High School Library. No objection. Ayes Directors. Stevenson, Kuhlman, Hamer, Wohlers and Nunez. 5-0 Motion carried. Consideration of Request for Modifies Supplemental Amount from SBRC for Open Enrolled Out, ELL, and Increasing Enrollment. Mr. Fonley stated that this is an application that is completed and submitted every year due to the increased enrollment in and open enrollment out. Motion was made by Director Kuhlman and second by Director Stevenson to request the maximum amount of $80,300.30. for increased enrollment and $14,096.00 for open enrollment out. Discussion. No objection. Ayes Directors. Stevenson, Kuhlman, Hamer, Wohlers and Nunez. 5-0 Motion carried. The next regular board meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. December 15, 2021 Adjournment.
